What is a sex therapist? How can it help me?

A sex therapist is a professional who has been specialised in helping people who are experiencing problems within their sexuality or related to sex.

If you are experiencing low sexual drive, pain or discomfort, difficulty to reach the orgasm, addiction, or any perceived problems that are related to sexuality, counselling might be a good place to start.

What do we do in session_?

Sex and couples therapy functions the same way as any psychological or counselling sessions. Online therapy provides with a safe space where you can discuss what is affecting your sexual and love life. Together, we will work to find out the best ways for you to overcome these difficulties and acquire life long tecniques.

What can I expect to happen on the first session?

The first session allows me to understand the landscape of your concerns and gather background information. As the end of the first session, I will explain what I can offer, the next steps or negotiate a plan with you. It is important that you feel comfortable working with me and feel I have understood your concerns. I like to say that you are the expert in yourself; I can provide points of view, strategies or tools and I encourage you to let me know if is something for you or not, so we can find other alternatives.

How many sessions will I require?

What makes therapy so amazing is that it is a personalised process. Frequency and duration of sessions varies from client to client: some might find resolution within a couple of sessions, while others might take longer, depending on personal circumstances and what changes you want to work towards. â€‹

I work with blocks of 6 sessions -if needed-, and then we review the process: where we started, what has worked and what is the current situation; and figure out the next steps.

Are the sessions confidential=?

Yes they are. All sessions are confidential. However there are ethical and legal guidelines that require disclosure if there is potential harm, in case the file is subpoeaned by a court of law or matters that can be discussed in supervision.

What are your qualifications?

I studied psychology with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and then I specialised in Couple'´s therapy and Sex therapy.

In Australia I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association which means I abide with their code of ethics, scope of practice and follow the standards of the Australian Privacy Law.
